Let’s Get Wordy!

Raz-at-Quid-Tempus_001-Complete

There has been so much going on lately that I have found myself with no time to blog, at least not as regularly as I would like. I thought I would take this opportunity to write an update of what’s been happening and how things are going.

You may recall I wrote about needing a job so I can buy all the things and blog about them. I mean, what’s a fashion blog without the fashion!?
Although, this isn’t just a fashion blog as there are far too many exciting things and fashion is just one part of it. And if you haven’t worked it out yet, I’m not exactly your standard blogger — which is totally okay and no I am not saying I am better than any other kind of blogger. I am, simply, different.
Anyway, the last point of why I need a job is that there’s only so many times I can wear my Maitreya Zipper Skinny Jeans by Onyx LeShelle before they need a break or just break altogether.

A really long story short — it was nearly 2,000 words — I start an unpaid Blogging Internship on Tuesday (Monday in Second Life) and then I went and got a job as a DJ.
I landed both of those on the same day, as you do, because I am consistently overachieving to the point of madness.

I know, I said I didn’t want to DJ again because it’s not the direction I want to go in Second Life™ anymore. But I realised that I am damn good at it, it’s easy for me and I enjoy it enough to do a few gigs a week. Plus, it’s one of the few jobs that will allow flexibility while I focus on my internship and blogging.
Of course, I am also impulsive, which may or may not have been the actual reason behind the DJ gig and the wonderful reason above is merely an after thought that sounds very rational. But we’ll forget this last bit and go with the rational one; it makes me sound better.
If you want to see when and where I am DJ-ing please view my picks in my profile.

In other news, I have a KittyCatS kitten. His name is Sir Storm of Geddon — 10 points to your house if you know the vague reference — and he’s actually quite cute!
In a moment of weakness I saw the little guy up for adoption and just had to have him. Even Eidann thinks he’s adorable, so clearly, I’m not completely losing my marbles. Not yet anyway.

Way back when, I had one of the early versions of Zooby cat’s that didn’t require feeding or, well,  anything really. They just roamed around, looked blocky and bumped into everything, which I’m a little embarrassed to say was highly entertaining. They were also renowned for leaving their set range and were forever being returned to my “Lost and Found” folder. Oh that was just mine? Okay then let’s move on.

Sir Storm of Gedden Complete

It probably then comes as no surprise to you that I had no idea I was supposed to feed him — Sir Storm of Geddon, not Eidann — so I spent the better part of a morning reading the manual and learning all about my new little scripted bundle of furry joy. And you know what it doesn’t have anywhere in the manual? Where to buy the food from.
Yes I am that lazy, I don’t want to have to search for stuff and what if someone’s new to Second Life™ and has no idea how to use search yet but somehow managed to get themselves a KittyCatS?
Luckily I’m not new so I did an in-world search and found the KittyCatS mothership. This makes me think these cats are planning to take over the world and we’ll need a superhero with two hearts and screwdriver to fix it… Anyway, I acquired some food and then spent the next hour cuddling my kitten. Little things, remember?

Lastly, I mentioned that I have been feeling lonely. That feeling hasn’t made its way past me yet, but the Internship and DJ jobs will go a long way towards making new friends and new memories that I can one day look back on fondly.

And that is it. We are now completely up to date with the goings-on of Razzy. Stay tuned for your regularly scheduled transmission.

Fangirl Edit #2 Dancing Groot

Dancing-Groot-Fangirl-Edit-Shoot-Complete

If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, plurk or Flickr you would have seen the picture above with the caption:

Can you guess what I’m doing?

Hint: “I’m hooked on a feeling…”

You will need your geek hat for this one!

Or some variation thereof.
And you thought I just copied and pasted everything! Ha!

If you guessed that it had something to do with this weeks Fangirl Edit you’re almost there. You deserve a cookie for getting so far with such a random clue. hands out the cookies

While I was flitting around Second Life™ finding all the gifts in the Wayward Hunt I spent quite a bit of time in Reign looking for said gift. While I was waiting for everything to rez I noticed they had a front desk and, being the nosey woman I am, I decided to take a closer look. That’s when I saw this:

Dancing Groot!

I squee-ed and giggled and just about fell over from the excitement.
In-world he does actually dance and he has the cutest little smile on his teeny, tiny sapling face! His little pot is also highly textured which just makes this replica so much better!
I forgot all about the gift and watched Groot dance his little heart out for almost an hour. Seriously, it was a good 45-50 minutes of Groot-watching. It’s the little things, you know?

I realise some of you aren’t as geeky as I am and are probably wondering who, or what, this Groot thing is. Simply, Groot is a character from the comic book-turned-movie Guardians of the Galaxy.  He’s voiced by Vin Diesel and I swear this little Groot actually has some resemblance, but then I did stare at his dancing form for almost an hour so I’m bound to see more than what’s actually there.

Oh! I should probably mention that I did end up finding the gift, which of course made the adventure that much more fun. I left with the biggest, and probably cheesiest, smile on my face. I’ll let you decide:

I admit that I may have toned the smile down a bit so I didn’t look too much like a weirdo in a store full of other Wayward Hunters! Although if they’re able to see my “look at” crosshairs then it’s highly likely I did look like a weirdo for staring at one spot on the desk for so long. It was worth it!

My geeky heart is full again this week. Now please excuse me while I head back to Reign to watch Groot again.

Razzy Takes on the Double Threat Meme

Double-Threat-Meme_001-Complete

When I decided to complete this Berry Meme I thought it would be fun to answer some questions so you’d get to know a little bit more about me. It was a lot of fun, but it also highlighted something I have been feeling recently that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.

Loneliness.

It’s not for a lack of making friends or meeting some incredibly wonderful people, because I have done both in the few weeks since I re-entered Second Life. I think it’s more the fact that the people I used to spend a lot of time with have all moved on, and I miss them. Those people that I was closest to are friends in real life, so they are still part of my life. It’s just… well… It’s not the same as being in Second Life and exploring, talking and laughing together.

With that in mind, I do apologise for the sad tone in some of my responses. I have tried many times to edit this to be less maudlin, but it just kept getting worse. So this is as good as it gets.

If you are so inclined to participate in this Meme here are the instructions:

Share your answers to the following questions.

Two online screen names you’ve had: I’m a bit of a weirdo and have used Raznay exclusively for 10+ years. I do have another screen name that I use for RL purposes, but I’d like to keep that private; at least for now.

Two video games you’ve played: DC Universe Online and World of Warcraft. I am a gamer in real life so it was hard to pick only two.

Two things you love about Second Life: I love meeting so many wonderful people as I flit around, especially lately while I’ve been participating in the Wayward Hunt. The other thing I love about Second Life is that it gives me the opportunity to do all the things I am not necessarily able to do in real life.

Two things you’ve done in Second Life: I have designed and created clothes and I have been a successful DJ.

Two things you still want to do in Second Life: I would like to learn how to craft mesh items and I would like to start making my own poses so I can create the images I picture when I write my posts.

Two things you like about your Second Life avatar: I love Razzy’s height and her shape, particularly her face.

Two of your Second Life Pet Peeves: People who don’t read profiles before contacting me and people being unnecessarily rude.

Two things you did as a newb that you’re embarrassed of: Buying Xcite body parts as a joke, because spending that much money for a joke is just totally hilarious
I’m also highly embarrassed — and ashamed — of trusting people who didn’t deserve my trust.

Two of your closest friends in Second Life: At this point in time I really only have one close friend. After a three year absence not a lot of people keep you on their friends list and even less are still around.

Two of the most beloved things in your inventory: Definitely my Maitreya Mesh Body and photo’s of friends that have long since moved on.

On Location at Club Borealis

Club-Borealis_007-Complete

Last Friday night I was invited to attend part two of the Grand Opening of a new club by the wonderful name of Club Borealis. I say “part two” because I want to feel special since I was asleep when the actual opening took place, sometimes time zones are a real pain.

Anyway, I went along as it had been a little while since my last human interaction while logged in and, honestly, I was more than a little excited to have been invited. It’s the little things, you know?

The awesome DJ Mackenzie Abbot was the player of the tunes, while Shiraz Jacobus kept us entertained, and in the know, as the host. There were two lovely dancers on stage, Syranni Jacobus and Krissy, who kept some enthralled with their beauty and amazing skill on stage.

Club-Borealis-DJ_002-Complete

I will be honest here and say I have never really understood having dancers at DJ events. I’ve been told it’s for additional eye candy and while that’s probably a very lucrative reason for the club, I still don’t really see the point. For instance, if I go to a club that’s promoting a DJ event I am going so I can hear the DJ perform. However, this little side track doesn’t have any bearing on the performance of the club; moving on.

The owners of the club Hal Garren (halgarre), Tasha (tashaepona) and Kalleesti Moirae (ysaera) were very approachable and friendly, which I have always found is a tremendous asset to a successful club. They’re very much team focused and driven, providing a very solid foundation for their staff. Indeed, I did notice this in the two hours I spent there! Perhaps I notice too much, but we’ll leave that for another post.

Like with many new clubs they are hiring DJ’s, Hosts and Dancers. You can find the applications in-world on the application board, which is on the left hand side of the stage. All completed applications can be deposited in the application mailbox on the ground to the right of the stage. All job-related inquiries should be directed to Kalleesti Moirae (ysaera) or Tasha (tashaepona).

Speaking of application mailboxes, right next to it is a box where you can get the free club t-shirt! It’s mesh — of course I had to test it — so there’s no need to worry if you have a mesh body! It’s a really good quality t-shirt too. Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised even though I  probably should have realised they’d have awesome skills!

Club-Borealis-2_002-Complete

It’s a lovely out door club with an Aurora Borealis circling in the sky. Who am I kidding?! I don’t write about scenery. If you want to see what it looks like go and check it out, join the in-world group and go along to one of their events.

They have a Facebook group too, which is great if you have an account for your avatar. If, like me, you have a page the group won’t be of much help.

There’s also an event board, which I was told will be open for competitions in the not-too-distant future! It’s been so long since I’ve been to a comp I wouldn’t even know what to do at one anymore!

All in all it’s a great club with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and good vibes. Check it out if Second Life clubs are your thing!

Club-Borealis-2_001-Complete

Additional note: Facebook actually has a policy about using fake names for accounts and you can find your avatar account closed without any warning. If you are so inclined you can read Facebook’s full Terms and Conditions here.
However, you are allowed to create a page for your avatar or any other fictional character. Strawberry Singh has a fantastic tutorial about that here.

Full disclosure: I was asked to write this post, however, I have not been paid to write it.
