When the Old and New Collide

Old-and-New---Studio_002-Complete

If you follow me on either Twitter or Plurk you would have seen that I was cleaning out my inventory. Before I started my serious de-hoarding I had 20,500+ items in that black hole. One tends to hoard things after 8 years… At least I hope I am not the only one!

The hardest part of the process was knowing that I would never wear my Last Call outfits again or have any reason to pull out all my old neko things from Catnip, Atomic and even Hybrid.
I will confess that I have kept my Last Call folder in the hopes I will some day be able to apply the clothes to my mesh body. I know that’s not very likely but I need to hope; they were the first high fashion, good quality clothes I bought in Second Life. They come complete with memories of my first months and years here. Things that remind me of good times are hard to let go of.

Bonus: fifty points to your house if you know those shops, aside from Atomic as Ivy Graves is still creating wonderful things for us.
Another twenty-five points if you shopped at those stores yourself!

Anyway, I still have lots more culling, sorting and decluttering to do but I’m down to a high, but respectable, 9,814 items. Insert cheering here
During this process I realised something quite startling: I am totally, wholly and completely invested in my Maitreya Mesh Body, Lara 3.0. In fact, I am so invested I can’t actually bring myself to take it off.
This means that the grand idea I had of posting about pre-mesh clothes in my pre-mesh body is not going to happen. Also, I may have thrown out everything I couldn’t wear or wouldn’t work with my mesh body.

With that said, I decided today to play with some old skins and try out some of the pre-mesh outfits I kept. Then, because I had an idea, I added some things I picked up at last week’s Fifty Linden Friday.

This was the result:

Until this point I had completely forgotten how hard it is to get a good picture with pre-mesh clothes. I very nearly gave up because the damn prims were going through my legs, arms, shoulders and at one point my head! And that was while I was trying to find the right poses for the look, without spending any money since I have a wonderful balance of L$88 that has to last me until I get a job.

Now, I realise you can’t really see what I’m wearing in that awesome picture so I took a couple in the studio to show the outfit, skin and accessories a little better.

Old-and-New-Studio_001-CompleteMy photoshop skills are okay but I have no idea how to get rid of that last bit of prim in her leg! More learning; bring it on!
