10 Things

While my blog is still in its infancy I thought I would take the time right at the outset to write some posts to help you get to know me a little better.
I think it’s important to get to know the person behind the blog, or in this case the pixels, as it helps to understand them and their quirks. For instance, my humour is often misunderstood and because of this I have found myself being extra careful of what I say and how I say it.
As you can imagine this makes writing quite difficult, at best. At worst it’s actually stopped me from writing because the “best bits” end up being so heavily edited they’re no longer good.
Eventually I have realised that if you get to know me and some of my quirks then my writing won’t be so, well, stunted and choppy. Instead, it can flow like a beautiful river on her way to the sea.

Yeah, I agree there shall be no more rambling, or attempts at anything resembling poetry, let’s jump right into:

10 things I wish people knew about me

  1. I’m shy — in fact I am almost painfully shy, even in Second Life. I hide behind cuteness, geekiness and some false bravado, but underneath it all I am a shy little kitten scared of her own shadow. This also happens to make me incredibly awkward.
  2. I spent time, in my early days, as a dancer — basically I know how to emote quite well. I choose to keep my emotes PG because I’m not interested in pixel sex.
  3. I’m sensitive — this isn’t such a stretch given I’ve done a pretty poor job of hiding it. I don’t subscribe to the “it’s weak” view of wearing your heart on your sleeve, instead I view it as one of my greatest strengths; it makes me empathic, caring and loyal.
  4. Solitude, I crave it — while I enjoy spending time with people and relish their happy vibes and excitement, I crave time with my own thoughts.
  5. Sarcasm is my BFF — I use sarcasm a lot. We understand each other. We’re basically inseparable. Don’t worry, I’ll always let you know when I am being sarcastic as I realise what sounds sarcastic to me doesn’t always translate in the written word.
  6. I notice more than people realise — I’m forever being asked “who told you that?” when I point out something I’ve noticed. I can see, I can read and I am really good at learning people’s inflections in their typing.
  7. I’m easily distracted — pretty shiny things *runs off*
  8. I have a lot of pet peeves — most of them I’m not very good at keeping to myself. If you’d like to witness me vent about my pet peeves feel free to follow me on Plurk.
  9. Romantic comedies make me sad — I’m not actually sure why but they are really depressing and just end up making me cry, a lot.
  10. I write most of my posts in Evernote while lying in bed, just before I’m about to fall asleep — because that’s when my brain is the most active when it comes to posts and what to write, so I write — okay type — until I fall asleep with my phone in my hand.

If you feel like answering your own 10 things you wish people knew about you, you can write your own post — don’t forget to link it in the comments — or list them in the comments.

  1. Raznay! I may or may not have just read your blog back-to-front, and have determined that you’re my soul sister or spirit animal or something.

Also, you’re Australian (yes, I profile-peeked you too) and I happen to be mysteriously but nonetheless wildly obsessed with MasterChef Australia, so basically you’re my SL equivalent of Matt Preston’s cravat. If you don’t get that reference, you’re dead to me.

(Just kidding! See? Quirky sense of humor too; we’re basically twinsies.)

Love your blog, and thank you for the Twitter follow! ♥

    • You know when you receive an amazing compliment that’s complete with so much awesomeness you’re basking in its glow for a while, soaking it in like much needed vitamin D from that big ball of gassy lightness? Yeah that’s me right now! Thank you so much Ever!

      Now for the important things:
I’m hoping I’m one of Matt Preston’s more outrageous cravats. No one wants to be the standard ones after all 😉

I usually watch MasterChef but have managed to completely miss the beginning, or entirety, of the latest season (is it even a season?) I know, I’m a terrible Australian. Damnit!

I’ve never been a spirit animal or soul sister, is there a course or a tutorial available so I can excel in these roles and, perhaps, raise my own level of awesomeness?!
Okay, that may have been a lot more funny in my head, moving on…

      Thank you again!! ❤

      • Wait – did you just liken me to a big ball of gas?!

/me dies from a giggle fit

        Ohmygosh, I ♥ you already.

You are most definitely an outrageous cravat! Maybe a pink n’ purple paisley number on a day when Matt’s wearing pinstripes. And now I desperately want to create a Second Life avatar in Matt’s likeness. You’re the best/worse influence!

The newest season just started last week, but I’m presently trying to catch up on MasterChef UK and MasterChef Canada before I watch, because Aussies > All Of The Things where MasterChef is concerned. It’s seriously a miracle I haven’t stowed myself on a ship and taken up residence in George’s wine cellar or something. … Or haven’t I? *wiggly conspiracy eyebrow*

I love the fact that this conversation is going to completely perplex your other blog readers, mwahaha. Let me know when you’ve got a gig, I want to come say stalk … I mean, say hello! ^_^

      • *dies from embarrassment* I can’t believe I likened you to the sun… Oh wait if I say it like that it’s kind of nice! Not so embarrassed now! Phew!

WOOHOO!! Outrageous cravat for the win! *dances around singing “I’m an outrageous cravat” while viewing Chapter Four* 😉

I’m sensing a bit of theme with MasterChef here. I could be wrong though, remember I did stare at a Dancing Groot for something like 45 minutes… he he he

If George is any kind of wine enthusiast his wine cellar wouldn’t get internet access, at least not WiFI. But then I’m thinking literally in terms of a cellar… I should probably not do that. Reign it in there brain!
Mind you I’m sure he lives in one of those mansions in Sydney so he’d have plenty of rooms unoccupied. I doubt he’d know there was an extra person in his house… 😉

*Giggles* I apologise profusely for confusing anyone. Let’s just say cravats are cool 😉
